Sculpture, 6 tablets 30x30 cm. Expanded polystyrene, acrylic Being in Serbia, I discovered an amazing ability in myself - to speak three languages at the same time. It was a curious adaptation to a new language where gaps in knowledge were filled with words from my native language and English. Sometimes, I noticed that I was changing the stress in Russian words or adding the suffix -tsa, which is more common in Serbian speech. After that, I always had the feeling that the Serbs would immediately begin to understand me and I would assimilate faster. This is how my new personal language appeared. When I saw the floor tile in the yard with a pattern that resembled an elegant ornate letter or hieroglyph, I became interested. In my project, I decided to use this “letter” to create my own alphabet, and it became the first one, setting the tone for all the others. Using these letters, I wrote the word “Jenny” - my name. I really wanted to “fit in” in Belgrade, and I did it LITERALLY, though in a made-up language.
